What do your son and daughter want to be this Halloween? Fireman? Hannah Montana? Or a Star Trek hero? It’s really greatnice if you can make dress for your children, but, since wedon’t have time it’s more practical to buy outfits for children. Fortunately (or in some sense, unfortunately), there are many choices of places that you can order Halloween costumes these days. However, you may not always be able to find what your children want; so here are some tips to make it easier. 1. Ask your children what they want to be early so that you can get early. Don’t wait till two days before. Order as early as you can. Halloween costume warehouses need to order fixed quantities of costumes from Mexico early in the year, and if they run out of stock, you cannot get them until the next year. 2. Find a local Halloween outlet, and go there early. Go to a specialist, not a toy store, not CVS. The Halloween costume specialist has 100 times more than a normal toy store. Another advantage of the local specialty stores are that you can often try it on before purchasing it. This, however, is not the case if you wait too long. A few days before Halloween, most places won’t let you try things, since they are far too busy. 3. If you can’t find one locally go online. There are many, many online costume stores, and all of them push Halloween outfits during this time of the year. Although most of them have “everything”, some online shop are specialized for a smaller field. 4. Since most online stores advertise the same products from the same vendors, things you need to pay attention to are the shipping cost, shipping time, shipping method, and more importantly return policy. If they do not show anything about the return policy, don’t purchase from the sites. Most trustfworthy shops do have a return policy clearly written, and usually give you about 30 days to return. OK, here I give you an example using Star Trek costumes. My son wants to be Scotty this year. I thought it would funny for me to be an adult Starfleet member to go tick or treat with him. To be a Star Trek character, you need a uniform and maybe a phaser gun. (If you elect to be Mr. Spock or another alien, you will also need some ears or a mask.) First, we went to a local super toy store. They had a few shirts, but not the right color. Scotty was an engineer and his shirt must be red. So we went to a Halloween costume outlet. Wow, they had lots of things. We bought the correct phaser and a red Star Trek Movie shirt for my son. He tried them and it all fit perfectly; he was happy, but they did not stock anything for me. So, I got home and typed “Order Adult Star Trek Movie shirts” in google. Wow, there were more than 100,000 entries! I could choose a google ad sites, but I decided to check out a few highly ranked online shops. Some of them are full blown costume stores, and some of them carry only Star Trek costumes. Before ordering even one thing, I checked the shipping information. The shipping fee is relatively cheap, and some sites have a flat rate, and for others, if you order more it gets cheaper. Then I read the return policy. Yes, this store had a 30 day return policy. While I was checking out the Star Trek costumes, I also found various accessories and Star Trek party supplies! I decided to turn the house into the starship Enterprise for Halloween.!Yes, I spent a little more than I was planning for, but I am ready for Halloween! Now, you’ve got the picture. I recommend going to a local Halloween store first (skip toy stores), but you also should check online shops. In either case, you should do itsoon; once they are gone, you won’t get them till next year for sure
