How to Throw a Party

There is nothing exciting about an everyday run of the mill party and if you want your guests to wait for the next event in your house you need to be a little more creative. I wanted to give my guests an evening t remember so this is what I did. And no I did not spend a fortune planning the party my only input was a little bit of creativity and the spirit to have a blast

The Reality Show Themed party.

Each year we host a new years party for our friends but every time it is the same group of people and very little changes beside the menu. Since we wanted to liven up the atmosphere my friends and I decided that nothing would perk things up like a reality show themed party. Now the only thing left to do was to pick a reality show and we all though that ‘ Survivor ‘ would be perfect.  Once we decided the theme we started our preparations with much gusto. We wanted to be creative with the invitations so we used plant leaves and permanent markers instead of paper. The poem read ‘ If you have the guts come without any buts, you will have to strive so that you can survive, the risk is yours and so are the rewards so come check it out sharp at eight. The invitation cards were such a hit that instead of the 22 people showed up even though we had only invited 15. we had mentioned it on the invite that everybody should get a clothes change along

Everything was set including the games that we had in store for our guest. I got my nephews foldable Jacuzzi we filled it with water and some ice cubes and nailed two tent pegs in the ground opposite each other with the Jacuzzi in between a tight rope was tied to the pegs. Of course most of them started on the rope but landed in the icy cold water.

For the endurance round which to come up next we laid a few old mattresses on the floor, the game was simple one person was supposed to pick another person and run to the finish line but you would have to run across the mattress which is what posed the real problem.

So we were done with courage and strength the next in line was the intelligence test for this each team got an egg, some scotch tape and a balloon. The teams had to make their masterpieces in such a way that even if it would be thrown on the floor the egg wouldn’t break .
We dint want to waste too much time cooking up a storm so the menu was simple. We decided early on that cooking an elaborate meal would not be possible with the all the party preparations that had to be done. So we had some crunchy lettuce salad, a delicious barbeque and some vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate. Even though we did usher the new year in with some champagne the drink for the evening was good ol beer.

By the time all 25 of us were done with the games it was about 10:30 we were drenched and rolling over laughing. After the games round we thought it would be appropriate to change our clothes and then go in for the steak dinner however after midnight we still had one more game left for our guests. For this game we needed one member from each team. It was a simple task that involved eating the maximum number of cup cakes that you could in a minute.
